    Helene called it earlier, tonight. She said whatever you did would be entertaining. I think you inserted some depth in spite of yourself! Yes, it is a dark story with an interesting twist on the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and what that should mean if someone really believes it which apparently the Misfit did not. I thought you might identify with the story in your line of work. Flanner O’Conner had a way of cutting through the baloney of society in her stories. I have a feeling you are going to get along quite well with her writing.

    In my short time working I have learned two very important lesson, never travel with cats ( it will always end with a homicide), and you actually make a huge statement with your glasses in trainings.

    Ron,
    I have read many of Flannery’s stories and would agree that they are disturbing. I find that her view of things comes from a distinct belief that the doctrines of Catholicism are correct, while all other forms and practices of Christianity are boorish imitations that lend its followers to miscreant deeds and knuckle-dragging escapades. Reading with my Apostolic filter set to *ON* I do get her powerful message in her stories that the “Truth” is nothing to be mishandled by ignorant folk (in her stories, Southerners [boo!]). But for Flannery, those who do mishandle religion, as she dogmatically believes it to be, die violent deaths or suffer in a big way. She is from Georgia, yet learned her writing skills from the famous creative writing college somewhere in (Yankee-fied) Indiana. Is there some way we could do a group discussion on selected works of hers with you , Steve C, and me?

      Wow. That’s a great insight-and I’m only a few stories deep. I’m sure Steve would certainly be down for that, as well as Helene. I think it would be cool. How about we pick one, and I’ll post about it–and then use the comments section there to do it? And what would be a good place to start?
