But this place is closing soon. Instead, I’m sitting in front of the also-closed Heritage Junction museum in MCCloud, charging my phone on the only exposed outlet in town.
If I’m not cited for vagrancy, I’m going to hopefully shoot a time-lapse of the mountain or something before I leave.
If I do get hammered for loitering, I’ll be at Siskiou County Jail.
I hope it’s warmer than Vermont. Mid to high 40’s today and not much of anything blooming yet. No leaves on the trees, the grass is not growing, and people generally don’t plant a garden until after Memorial Day due to the chance of a frost. What is really a depressing thought is the summer solstice is less than two months away and we still look like winter just left. Oh wait, it did just leave… We had measurable snow on Friday in the higher elevations.
Nowhere new that cold–even at the base of the mountain. You need to move out here! Although we have a drought, so strike that.
We have plenty of water. My retirement plan is to move out west somewhere. I’ve thought about the southwest, though my wife would like a little more green. I need sunshine and warmth.
